About Yiska

Yiska Obadia is a licensed acupuncturist who graduated from Tai Sophia Institute with a Masters Degree in Acupuncture in January 2007. Born in NYC, she moved to Israel in 1994 where she discovered a passion for bodywork which earned her certification in various styles of massage therapy, including deep-tissue massage.

Prior to attending Tai Sophia Yiska attended another Chinese medicine program in Israel before returning to the United States. This program brought her to China for a 3 month internship at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Teaching Hospital in Chengdu.

She also comes to her acupuncture practice with a background in reflexology and doula work. Yiska continues to enjoy supporting women & families in the birth process with her doula services and acupuncture & massage.

Yiska obtained her B.A. from SUNYEmpireState College majoring in holistic health. It was her interest in holistic health that eventually brought her to the study of Five Element Acupuncture with its emphasis on treating the whole individual, body, mind and spirit, rather than a symptom or a disease.

In addition to acupuncture, she offers massage therapy services and acudance, a modality that invites clients to explore the combined therapeutic powers of both movment & acupuncture.

Passionate about dance, self-expression & personal transformation, Yiska is a certified Journeydance teacher. Visit www.journeydance.com to learn more.

Finally with her husband & sensuality life coach Sam Gedal (www.livinginpassion.net), Yiska co-facilitates the quarterly Community Leadership & Intimacy Retreat, peer-led weekends for people to experience more community, leadership & intimacy in their lives.

Testimonials

“In your presence in the treatment room, I feel relaxed and able to be myself, and most of all, I feel tended on all levels.  You are always professional, yet also warm and familiar…”

A., client

“I am someone who rarely feels welcomed or held, and yet with you, I feel both. I have never known another person with such capacity to allow me to feel like what I am/say/do matters.”

N., client

“When I began treatment…I was feeling down and fearful of sliding into a depressive phase. Through the treatment and the relationship with Yiska this did not occur. In fact, after a number of treatments I began to feel grounded. My life has changed dramatically during these past five months and I am convinced without acupuncture I would not be in the same balanced place as I am at this juncture."
